Gratitude

As I endeavor through the autumn of my life I have a genuine concern, even fear, for the future of our country. I selfishly worry that among the thoughts and beliefs I will have as I am leaving this earth is that the country I love is on the wane, that our best days may be over. I worry that my loved ones (people just like you), and those to follow them (and you) will not know the country I loved and cherished; know its endless opportunities; or experience a way of life that can only be coveted by the rest of the civilized world.

These are the thoughts and feelings of someone who has nothing but gratitude for having been lucky enough to be born in the greatest country on earth. The dying thought I speak of regarding our country’s fate is borne out of love for a country that was founded on the principles of freedom and liberty for all who seek and honor it. A country that I believe is truly a beacon of hope and a protector of all people in the world that yearn to be free. A country that allowed me to be what I am, do what I wanted to do, and live my life to the fullest.

I could not be more grateful!
